What is Disassociation?

I was at a gathering with women from my city and one of the women shared a story of a friend who did not know she was pregnant until 7 months in.

As I heard that my heart sank in pain. I understood what was happening from my own experiences with Complex Trauma.

My educated guess is that she has no felt sense of her abdomen and pelvis likely due unresolved personal or intergenerational sexual trauma.

This is dissociation. In my own lived experience it is the absence of felt sense of body parts, organs, muscles etc.
