The Traffic Jam
my streets and highways are
filled with motor cars of emotions
intersecting with the innumerable
commuter trains of thoughts
all milling in all directions
vibrating in constant motion
in my city like mindscape
some thoughts honk loud
some silently trudging along
some emotions clog the exits
some still stuck on the in ramp
and often these web and mesh like
arteries get blocked, choked
paralyzed by the chaos,
prone to road rage,
falling in fatal collisions
so I breathe, deeply into the
heart of the confusion,
inhaling and exhaling, slowing
the breath, heart, and mind
and like a loving traffic conductor
I, in song, guide the emotions and
thoughts by the dance of my arms
moving them back on their way out
of the center
craving to be cleared,
because my core
only seeks stillness,
and joyful emptiness
so it can constantly blink green
for all incoming divine signals,
and thus fill my city
with cosmic creative motion.
