Beneath Gravity

goddess asks,

“Tell me gravity,
what do you see
above you?”

“I see the skies you
gaze at with longing,
while cursing my
hold on your feet

I see your tears
when they fall unnoticed

I also see your heart
when it sinks closer
or when it jumps
away with glee

Tell me, goddess
what do you see
beneath you?”

“I see you as the blood
running through
the veins of my
mother Gaia, your
invisible power
her genetic
grasp on me

I see you showing me
that falling hurts
but also teaching
me to revere the
fall and ground when
finding the stars”

“Then goddess
tell me what
do you see
beneath me?”

“When I look deeper,
far beneath you
than eyes can see
I cannot believe
what I find,
for gravity,
I see that it is I
grounding you
keeping you
held upright
since eternity.”
