Fear
Fear you are like the nagging relative everyone hates.
You show up on the regular, and we see you coming,
well sometimes, we invite you ourselves into our home
out of courtesy,
thinking we are stronger to handle your nasty.
You see, fear comes inside our sanctuary
and at once starts searching every nook
for all that is broken, and then
loudly shaming, blaming, pointing
at us for our perfect home, it says is crumbling
Because you see limbless fear needs
to find legs to stand on, and all
our pains and insecurities picked up
from our walkabout in this world as humanity
become the ready limbs to
make fear run amok in our own minds.
Fear to live needs to find more fear.
And our sorrows have just the ripe
nutrients to feed it full and far.
So one spark of fear grows and grows
using all the dry tinder in us it can find.
And the burning inside spills outside,
as blame for our crumbling home
forgetting that it was a pesky
little fear in our own mind
that started this fiery show.
