Our Dreams
holding hands by the ocean
we dreamt of near and far-flung futures
adorning them with the love and togetherness
felt so deeply in ours and the heart of the moment.
some dreams were elaborate arrangements of our desires
some were simple, like growing old, waking up with the other
some had images of our future dogs, home, and children
how we would fail and win at loving and parenting them
these all were kept safe, in my heart, hoping, waiting
the moment they become real, will be lived fully by me
now my heart is shattered, those dreams all scattered
pricking my feet unexpectantly, as I attempt to walk free
I grieve them all, one by one, letting them go, letting go the fears
making space for new ones, dreamt with new eyes, more clear.
I wait for them grieved to hopefully fade the many colours and shades
of our togetherness into the scents and scenes of my wholeness
